is this ever going to get any better??

i feel even worse today. i think it's because of the weather-- but even sleeping at night is getting worse. i'm up every 2 hours or so because i can't get comfortable enough to sleep and stay asleep. i found out yesterday that i wasn't supposed to be taking the vicodin around the clock (like it says on my discharge papers)... i am supposed to be taking advil during the day and the vicodin at night. so i switched to that once i found out, but since i was so used to being on the vicodin all day, it was a hard transition.

anyway, i just wish the sleeping at night would get better. i just end up getting up at 7am since i was just up at 6am, 4am, 3am, and midnight.

anyone that has gone through a transplant have any advice????????

Hey Melissa -
Hang in there! And it's my understanding you shouldn't be taking NSAIDS like Advil, Ibuprofen, or aspirin. You should stick with Tylenol or any acetaminophen. Of course, check with your doctor or transplant coordinator, but that's what I was told when I donated. I believe this is because NSAIDS are harder on your kidneys, and since you only have one now, you just need to be more cautious. Thinking of you!

really??? my surgeon specifically said "take advil or aleve for pain instead of the vicodin during the day" so i figured since i have advil (because it's normall my painkiller of choice) i'll switch to that. but maybe that is why i'm not doing as well as i'd like. wow... i will DEFINATELY stop taking the advil and switch to tylenol.

thanks for the advice jody!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Melissa. Sorry about the tough week. The good news is that it's Friday - take the weekend to rest up. I wish you could get more time off from work for recovery.
